Best Golf Courses in Canada
It all begins with an idea.
One Per Province and Territory — Because We Don’t Leave Anyone Out
Canada is big. Really big. And with over 2,300 golf courses across the country, there's bound to be one just around the corner from your next road trip. From hidden gems in the Rockies to cliffside fairways, deep boreal forest layouts, and even a course beyond the Arctic Circle (yes, really), there’s no shortage of places to tee it up.
At Deer Golf, we wanted to celebrate those who play here. So we rounded up our favourite courses across the country — one per corner of the map. Because we have nothing to envy from the rest of the world.
British Columbia — Capilano Golf & Country Club (West Vancouver)
A Stanley Thompson gem perched above West Vancouver since 1937. Ocean views, mountain backdrops, and Douglas fir-lined fairways make every hole a reminder that golf is also about soaking it all in. Private club — invite-only — but if you get the call, expect to pay $250–$350 per player. Worth every cent.
Even if you play like trash, you’ll remember every hole.
Alberta — Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course (Jasper)
A legendary Stanley Thompson design nestled in Jasper National Park since 1925. Expect turquoise lakes, mountain horizons, and the occasional elk chilling by the green. Bear sightings near hole 9? Not rare. Public access. Fees range $180–$230, depending on season and tee time. Pro tip: early morning tee-offs are magic.
Nature, postcard edition. But with a wedge in hand.

Saskatchewan — Waskesiu Golf Course (Prince Albert National Park)
Another Thompson classic, open since 1935. Deep in Prince Albert National Park, surrounded by mature pine, deer, and calm lakes. It’s low-key, nostalgic, and full of charm — like that reliable golf buddy you always invite. Public course. $80–$110 depending on time and season.
Not flashy, but all heart.
Manitoba — Niakwa Country Club (Winnipeg)
Championship-grade private club. Tight layout, fast greens, and zero forgiveness. Strategy is everything. Not the place to swing blindly after a couple beers. Members only. If you land a tee time, green fees are usually $150–$200.
No room for improvisation — even if your Deer Golf polo says otherwise.
Ontario — St. George's Golf & Country Club (Toronto)
Top 3 in Canada. Stanley Thompson-designed. Classic layout, fierce greens, and elite vibes. Not just a course — it’s a test. Private and hard to access. Estimated green fees $250–400.
It tests your game... and your ego.
Quebec — Le Blainvillier (Héritage) (Blainville)
Just north of Montreal, this semi-private course brings fast greens, pine-lined fairways, and a technical layout that rewards focus and finesse. Tee times available online. Green fees: $90–135.
Pro-quality turf, quiet vibe, and plenty of style. Deer Golf approved.
New Brunswick — Royal Oaks Golf Club (Moncton)
Designed by Rees Jones — yep, that Open Doctor. It’s a modern links with wind, deep bunkers, and room to recover from that wayward hook. Public course. Green fees: $60–95.
Forgiving... unless you hit a 4-iron into a headwind.
Nova Scotia — Cabot Cliffs (Inverness)
Not just a course, a punch-in-the-face kind of view. Clifftop fairways, ocean panoramas, postcard-worthy holes. Regularly ranked #1 in Canada. Public, upscale, and packed. Book ahead. Fees: $320–400.
Lose 6 balls into the sea and still leave smiling.

Prince Edward Island — The Links at Crowbush Cove (Morell)
Salty air, coastal dunes, and that vacation energy. Designed by Thomas McBroom to bring Scotland to the Maritimes — minus the haggis. Public. $100–125 per round.
Even a triple bogey can’t wipe the grin off your face.

Newfoundland & Labrador — Humber Valley Resort (Deer Lake)
Fjord views, forested hills, and crisp silence. Designed by Doug Carrick. It's scenic, forgiving, and surprisingly playable for all levels. Public course. Green fees: $80–120.
The kind of place you slow down... even if you’re on fire.
Yukon — Mountain View Golf Club (Whitehorse)
One of the northernmost courses in Canada — and you can play a full 18 at midnight. Modest facilities, but big on community and jaw-dropping light. Green fee: $60–80.
Midnight golf under golden skies. Unreal.
Northwest Territories — Yellowknife Golf Club (Yellowknife)
Sandy fairways and a patch of fake turf you bring to each shot. Quirky? Yes. But unforgettable. Green fee: $60–75.
Strange? Yup. Memorable? Absolutely.
Nunavut — Nanisivik Golf Club / Tuktoyaktuk (honourable mention)
No trees. No luxury. Just raw northern golf. Seasonal, community-run sand-and-turf courses built with passion and grit. Symbolic green fee or donation-based.
It ain’t Augusta. But if you’re chasing stories, you just found one.
Final Thoughts
Golf in Canada is more than a sport — it's wild landscapes, long drives (on and off the tee), and a community that knows how to laugh off a double bogey.
No matter your score, if you're rocking Deer Golf, you're always dressed for the moment.
